Vintage Jennings Brothers (J. B.) Cast Metal Jewelry Casket Trinket Box, Vintage French Decor
This lidded box is made of cast metal, first plated with copper, then with gold and is done in an Art Nouveau style. It is an extra large Victorian jewelry casket, #51 with raised roses in gold cast metal designed by J.B. (Jennings Brothers) c. 1910-1920s in Bridgeport Connecticut. The measurements are: 7.5” long x 3” wide x 2.5” in the front ascending to 2.5” in the back. The Art Nouveau style features curved body lines with flowing floral designs just look at the intricate design work of the leaves and roses.
On the inside the original pale pink/peach silk and all of the satin cord are intact which is very RARE. Most does like this are found without a lining ( see photos). Condition is excellent, with only expected wear to gold, giving it a lovely patina.
This would look wonderful in your boudoir or on your dressing table or why not display it in your entry hiding change, keys, etc.
