RARE Antique French Gabriel FOURMAINTRAUX Signed Nativity Figures, Desvres Faience Christmas Creche

These rare nativity figures were designed and signed by Gabriel Fourmaintraux. This exceptional antique creche consists of 13 tin-glazed faience figures for the nativity made by the Desvres Faience Company in the Northeast region of France. The style indicates it was made in the early part of the Art Deco period. It is so unusual to find a nativity set complete with all the main people and animals. What nicer piece could you add to your French country decor at Christmas? This beautiful nativity scene will surely become a much loved family tradition for your Holiday decor. The figures have maker's mark 'G. F.' inside of a sun which stands for Gabriel Fourmaintraux. Stamped below that is - Desvres and France -

Sizes: Mary 4" - Joseph 4" - baby Jesus 2-3/4" - Kneeling Wise men 3-3/4" - Standing Wise man 5-1/4" - Standing Shepherd 5.5" - Kneeling Shepherd 4" - -Kneeling Man 4" - Sheep 2-3/4" by 2.1/2" and 1-3/4 Mule 2" x 3-1/2 - Ox 4" x 2" Condition: It appears that the bases of the human figures were at one time broken and repaired. The breaks are visible from the inside bottom only with two exceptions the standing man with a lavender coat, and the kneeling man in yellow coat behind Joseph.
