This antique French coin purse is in perfect condition. It has two compartments for coins or other sundries. It's a lovely Victorian ladies coin purse which was made in France between 1837 -1901. This antique Chatelaine mesh purse measures 2.50" long; from the very top of the clasp to the last tiny silver ball by 1.75" wide Ref. 2095C

A chatelaine is a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it, at the end of each chain was a useful household appendage such as scissors, thimble, watch, key, vinaigrette, household seal, and coin purse. If you watch Downton Abbey Mrs Hughes wears a chatelaine and has a little purse just like this antique French purse.
