Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain circa 1875 -1885, Antique Porcelain Plate by Haviland & Co

50.00

This is one of my favorite antique porcelain plates. It has a stunning and unusual bird & birds nest motif. It was Made in France by Haviland & Co between 1875 -1885. The hand painted design is beautifully executed on this sweet collectible plate. The mother bird is perched above her nest which has 3 eggs in it. The background fades from top to bottom - light beige to a soft blue green. 3 pink roses, a vine of green leaves, and brown branches support the nest. This lovely vintage plate is Provincial decor at it's best!
Because the corners are folded over the plate takes on an octagonal shape. The unusual shape gives the illusion of space under each corner. The edge was once outlined in gold however much of it has been worn off. To me this makes it even more charming.
Condition; there is 1 tiny chip from the lower back Left. Back stamped;
Haviland & Company; "H & Co. over "L" in under-glaze green, and the pressed letter 'L".
Size 9" diameter.
